Clipping The Status Quo
Looking up the definition of status quo, a picture of the traditional nail clipper could be included. The compound lever and claw-style tool hasn’t changed much since the 19th century. And it works “good enough” for many people. Except 👇👇👇
How do you clip your nails if you had the use of only one hand?
New parents understand the anxiety of nicking their newborn’s finger.
Raise your hand if you’ve tried to clip a defiant child’s nails as they wiggle and squirm, trying to get them to hold still. Then do it again a few days later.
Elder loved ones can experience sore hands from arthritis, making it difficult to hold or squeeze a clipper.
Frustration is commonly felt when you experience non-intentional tremors, strength limitations or partial loss of function.
For ClipDifferent, clipping the status quo means providing the opportunity for independence and confidence while using one of our automatic nail clippers. For three years people from all walks of life have been experiencing more independence and smiling along the way. ClipDifferent aims to support individuals with Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis and Stroke survivors and more.

So Much to Do
May is one of those months that is full of promise. The earth comes back to life, plants and trees start to grow, bird song is more prevalent, and the list goes on. It is also the month that many organizations choose to promote various campaigns. The list is long but a few of them include National Foster Care Month, Mental Health Month, National Bike Week (16th-22nd), Teacher Appreciation Week (2nd-6th), ALS Awareness Month, American Stroke Month, Arthritis Month, Mobility Awareness Month, and on and on.
As you can see these causes are varied. Some of them have long histories, and some of them are rather new. Isn’t it rewarding that there are so many to choose from? Thinking about this and taking it a little further, it becomes apparent how many of the campaigns have “awareness” in their title, Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month, Lupus Awareness Month, Brain Tumor Awareness Month , Celiac Awareness Month , etc. Maybe someday there won’t have to be as much awareness building as acceptance building.
It is also important not to get caught up in trying to become more ‘aware‘ of everything. After all, sometimes it’s more important to help someone fully than to help a lot of people just a little. Heather Hart is quoted as saying. “It’s better to do one thing well than ten things poorly.” At ClipDifferent, we do one thing and we do it well; we make automatic nail clippers! ClipDifferent was created to fill a need that people had when clipping their nails for themselves. Or rather, when the status quo wasn’t good enough, ClipDifferent answered the call. Our mission is to make life a little easier by providing a better solution to trimming nails.
“Two ways to challenge the status quo. Slowly, or all at once.” -Seth Godin
The status quo is now changing for the whole family with our next three products. Details to follow later this month.
